Building

The building was designed by young architects Pedro Bustamante and Javier Camacho.

CREAA is located on the esplanade of Los Castillos del Marqués de Valderas  (Alcorcón) and its urban environment.

The project includes nine buildings in one. Its uses are arranged in series, and organised in strips for similar purposes, running along the entire length of the ensemble.

The building's structure is arranged in a way that each part can operate independently or simultaneously in relation to the closest parts. Several units can also be grouped whenever required by the activity.

This organisation enables interconnected but distinct applications. This requires direct communication as well as the possibility to share spaces, but also respecting the need for independence during its habitual operations, and an appropriate level of compartmentalisation for each situation.

Two outstanding figures in a hilly landscape

Two elements emerge over a landscape of artificial hills —man-chiselled land substrates: the circus: a translucent cylinder that is a faithful rendering of the inner emptiness; and the auditorium: an enigmatic precious stone placed on the site, with opacities and tones that change over time, thus displaying its internal activity as if it were a glowing fairy-light. A seducing object that is etched in the retina as a symbol of Madrid South's culture and arts.

The building's top floor areas, which offer privileged views to Los Castillos, the Sierra and the sunset, are the ideal meeting point and activity area: street theatre, carnivals, fancy dress and mask balls, outdoor music festivals, etc.
